When to Trek the Rainbow Mountain and Red Valley:

The best time to embark on the 4-day Ausangate trek is from May to October, the dry season in the Andes. The months of June to August are particularly dry, but they also correspond to the high season, attracting more visitors to places like Cusco, Machu Picchu, and the Inca Trail.

Daytime temperatures range between 10°C and 20°C on sunny days, dropping to 5-10°C at night without sunlight. At higher-altitude campsites, temperatures plummet in the evenings and especially at night, reaching -10°C or lower during the dry season. It’s crucial to pack warm clothing. The rainy season, from November to April (with the heaviest rain from January to March), can cause road closures.
